South Hams

We represent clubs and organisations within the South Hams district area, working with children and young people in a variety of settings. There are 4 meetings a year, online and face to face. Currently we are working together to arrange a local trip for young people, volunteers and staff where we can all get together, have some fun and look at how we can support each other better.

South Hams Network

Thanks to The Mansion Totnes for hosting and Creative Arts Therapy Devon,   F.A.S.T, Malborough Youth Club, So Social Ivybridge, Sirona Theraputic Horsemanship, and The Francis Chichester Trust for attending.

Key issues discussed-

  • Creative Arts Therapy Devon, are a small CIC that offers arts therapies to schools, families and other groups across Devon.

  • They are keen to fund the development of a family arts therapy that focuses on co-parenting by separated parents as well as offering separate sessions for parents and children or young people. This program was to be funded by the Family Hubs but recent changes have left this in doubt. If this is something you might be interested in collaborating on, do get in touch!

  • They also work in schools and with looked after children.

  • Marlborough Youth Club are opening this month! They are keen for any ideas for sessions, sources of funding to look at future funding and resources to support young people.

  • The Francis Chichester Trust works with young people aged 16-22 in Devon who want to undertake longer expeditions with outward bound centres in Wales and the Lake District, it provides funding after an interview process to enable them to access these expeditions, with an aim for them to be a transformative experience for the young people taking part.

  • Their next round of applications is in Jan 2025- check out their website or watch our newsletter for details.

  • FAST have continued to run their sessions in Kingsbridge and have helped Malborough by inviting their volunteers to come and visit a session and see how they organise their work. Ed also did a great job of letting people in to this weeks meeting via the slightly obscure door!

It was resolved that-

  • FAST would continue to help Malborough if they wanted advice, in conjunction with VOYC and the Space Community Team.

  • We still have money to spend. Let me know your ideas!

If you want to help plan the network get together then make sure you keep your diary empty and join us at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be in March 2025, we will let you know the date as soon as possible and it will be online this time.
