North Devon

Thanks to Torri Youth for hosting us. We were disappointed by the lack of support from other groups this time, particularly as we have a budget for local work.

  • Torri Youth reported the infamous Milk Factory has been demolished.

  • This has caused young people and the homeless who previously congregated there to split up and use different areas in and around the town.

  • A successful summer program was funded by the OPCC with outdoor activities and outreach work being delivered.

  • It has been harder to find and connect with groups on the street since the demolition of the milk factory but the honey pot of a dangerous building has been safely removed. It remains to be seen how this will affect the dynamics of young people's informal socialising in the town.

  •  North Devon Forum For Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD sent their apologies.

  • There was some discussion about mapping support in the local area- there is a map of registered members on the Youth Work in Devon website here.

It was resolved that

  • We will put on collaborative first aid training, the Space Community Team will coordinate with interested groups as they hold the funding.

The next meeting will be in March and will be online, if you have any opinions on the network in North Devon do contact us.
